The ASHP Foundation is now accepting applications for the Pharmacy Residency Expansion Grant Program through Jan 8, 2021. The goal of this program is to expand the number of PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency positions for the 2021-2022 training year by awarding grants in the amount of $25,000. The program is supported by a grant from Merck.More Info >>>

The 2020-2021 CSHP Resident Task Force has hit the ground running, overcoming multiple obstacles that this year has brought current and new residents by creating multiple new opportunities. The Task Force has implemented 4 new subcommittees; Advocacy, Professional Development, Networking and Social Media, with 18 residents from across the state hard at work to connect and inform their peers.

•  The Advocacy subcommittee has prepared their first issue of their legislative update, which provides important State, Federal and COVID-19 updates.
• The Professional Development subcommittee has collected CVs from residents and students to be disseminated to clinical pharmacists in the field for feedback. These reviews, along with upcoming Mock Interviews will help residents and students prepare for “Virtual Interviewing” and strengthen their applications.
•  Lastly, the Networking and Social Media subcommittees have been creating new ways for residents across the state to interact and connect including regular social media initiatives such as spotlights and events including “Speed Networking” opportunities, Ginger-Bread House competitions and T-Shirt design contests!

With the cancellation of the Eastern States Residency Conference, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, residents around the state needed an alternative venue to present their residency projects. CSHP stepped in and organized the 1^st CT Residency Conference for all PGY1 and PGY2 residents in the state, held virtually on May 28^th. This event allowed pharmacy residents from across the state to virtually present their research projects to other residents, RPDs, and preceptors from across the state.Over the course of the daytime event, 54 residents presented platform presentations and 7 residents presented posters. Eight additional residents presented as part of The Great 8 CE program that evening. Over the course of the day, 220 participants attended presentations for an average of three hours each. Over 120 evaluations were completed, providing valuable feedback to our residents. A special thanks goes out to all of the residency directors, preceptors, and pharmacists from around the state who served as session moderators and designated providers of feedback. We could not have pulled this event off without your help!

This event was combined with CSHP’s annual The Great 8, a CE program. Residents chosen for the Great 8, all CSHP members, gave their platform presentation during the evening hours of May 28^th, after the CT Pharmacy Residency Conference concluded.
